Binoculars
are part of any astronomer equipment, shown here are a pair of
Minoltas' 10x50 in top of a Universal Astronomics MicroStar.
With a 6.5° field I use
the binoculars to locate objects in the sky for further observing
with the telescope.
Having a solid tripod is very important for binocular viewing.

A
good set of oculars ranging from 40mm to 5 mm my favorites are the
Televues, University Optics, and Orion Lanthanum.
|
Barlows allow to increase your
ocular collection and really handy for observing the planets .
Here is a trio of 2x Orion's 2.8x University Optics and 5x
Televue's. To use the 5x you need to have an exceptional clear sky.

For solar observing, sun
filters are a most. I prefer the Baader filters, you can make them
yourself and they are extremely sharp.

A set of color filters also
help to increase contrast in planetary fixtures and deep sky
objects.

The Hartman mask is very
important for good focusing, it allows you to bring to perfect focus
your images fro astrophotography.
